Holy crap, Disney bought Pixar. I am a little sad that it couldn't hold off from being purchased by them, but at the same time, it'll be good for Disney, which is good for me.
In San Francisco, many people mourned this day. I work with a lot of ex-Pixar people and this is really the end of an era.
Is Jobs going to the new age Walt Disney? I love Steve, but I can't help but not be very happy about this. It just seems to strip Pixar of all the things that made them unique.
And what happened to their massive cash reserve? Guess it went into the Disney well. Poof!
Really, I never like hearing about a company buying out another. I guess I like choices and individuality. Pixar had that in my eyes and now I am not sure what to make of it all. I trust Jobs will make it fine, but if he lets me down, I might have to switch to a PC and toss out my iPod.
I know, its so sad when a company that built itself up and began creating something fresh gets bought by a big corporation. I was really looking forward to seeing what they could do unleashed from the mouse. I just hope that it can maintain its high quality.
This is definately a huge change for the animation industry, and I wish Pixar could have avoided this.
Favorite restaurant in Vancouver right now is The Eatery on Broadway between Waterloo and Collingwood St. It has an amazing atmosphere where you can order a great curry dish or your favorite sushi.
