Bonnie and I are finally back from our awesome vacation! We drove up to Kelowna and stayed at Bonnie's friends chalet on Big White for a few nights and boarded for a couple days there before heading to Vernon and staying with my friends Graeme and Terryn. We had a blast up there boarding at Silverstar for a day as well. This time I finally took my camera there and Bonnie, being the star she is, snapped some pics of Graeme and I throwing ourselves to the mercy of the mountain. It was a great day and she took some amazing shots, and yes we did land some of these.

Well our crazy week adventure is winding down for the holidays. First we had dinner with Bonnie's parents, then we drove over to the island for Christmas there with my mom's side of the family. Stayed there till the 27th, then we came back and my parents joined me over here. We went to dinner with my Dad's side of the family which was awesome because I haven't seen a lot of those guys in a long time. Now it's almost New Years and I'm ready to fall asleep and never eat another thing as long as I live. Time to hit the gym hard this year.

So anyhow, while I was over there I snapped a few pictures of my nephew Tyson, he's so grown up now, two years old and cute as ever.

Sorry about not being here posting as much as I used to, but I've actually been kind of pissed at computers.

See I gave my computer to Bonnie and I opted to order a laptop from Dell. They sent me a laptop, but its screen was bunk so I thought ok, I'll send this back and upgrade cause the version up from the 6400 is the 9400 and it has DVI out and a 17 inch screen that runs at a great resolution.

I recieved that one and they completely screwed the order up and pretty much sent me a broken laptop.
-I ordered two gigs of ram they gave me one.
-The screen was messed up it had two little grey discoloration marks in the bottom
-The powerbutton was pressing crooked and incorrectly
-I ordered a mouse, it didn't come(though they charged me for it)
-I ordered a backpack so I could carry it around, they sent me a sideback(which I hate)
-It was sent to Richmond, it was supposed to be sent to my work.

Anyhow, with all this stuff screwed I phone them, got 150 bucks off and told me I could have the mouse for free and they would send me a backpack.

So the new order arrives and guess what?

-One gig of ram
-Sidebag no backpack
-Sent it to Rickmond not my work
-Then I realize the video card that I ordered is incompatible with Maya.

AWESOME!

So now I've completely sent everything back told them, "That's ok, I don't really want your computer afterall." and now I'm buying a brand new desktop from NCIX. I don't have it yet, but it should be pretty awesome when I get it and if it's screwed up, I'm off computers forever.

Anyhow, the moral of the story is...don't buy from Dell.

God I haven't updated this thing in FOREVER!! I thought maybe somehow if I didn't update my blog I'd never turn thirty. Unfortunately, I did! The party was awesome though! I just heard that it's going to be three to four weeks till my place is under tarps!! Time to get out the baseball bat while I'm sleeping! There's nothing like having a jungle-gym for thieves right outside your window. Hopefully the tarps are only up for six months like they say. If that's the case the place should be ready for summer next year! I can't wait till it's done, it's been a long time coming.

WE'RE BACK AND WE'RE ALIVE!

And most importantly we're still happy together! Some 5,300 km later we've arrived back safe and sound in Vancouver. We got home Saturday evening tired and done with driving, but the whole experience was a great one! The coast is awesome and if you haven't been down it I suggest you cruise at least a part of it. I have pictures and will post them but I've been trying to get my new laptop up and running so I can get the pictures in order, but now that it's up I should be good to go!

Our trip included: Driving down to the thick of LA in 27 hours including 4 hours sleep, going to Huntington Beach (never stay at the Huntington Beach Hotel), Disneyland, California Adventure, Knottsberry Farm, San Diego, SixFlags Magic Mountain, driving to the coast, San Francisco(don't get a hotel in The Tenderloin), Skywalker Ranch(THANKS SARAH!), driving up the coast, Camping, Sandboarding(not worth the effort), dunebuggying(awesome!) and finally back home...

I have pictures like crazy, so stay tuned for the many fantasical adventures of Jason and Bonnie!

DOWN THE COAST!

Well today Bonnie and I leave for the United State of America! We're cruising down the I-5 tonight to portland and then cruising to LA from there! It's going to be a whirlwind adventure getting there but once we're there we're going to say hey to Mickey Mouse and some rollercoasters! We're going to San Diego to see my friend Jeff, then we're gonna drive back up to San Francisco to see Osipa and hopefully some old friends. After that we're going to take it down a notch and enjoy some camping on the Oregon coast.

I'm looking forward to this, and it will be a pretty good test of our relationship to see if Bonnie can handle me on a drive for pretty much 24 hours straight, I think I might drive her nuts.

Anyhow, I'll try and blog while I'm away with pic updates.

Ok, so my favorite author, Neil Gaiman wrote a book called Coraline. It's more of a kids book than his usual stuff, but it doesn't hold back on the strange and fanciful ideas or situations that he puts his characters in. It reminds me of those weird and creepy Roald Dahl books we used to read as kids, books that creeped you out but you couldn't stop.

Anyhow, Buckley forwarded me this picture and I almost lost my mind...

The director for the film version is Henry Selick, and I don't know if you remember this little film he did a while back called "A Nightmare Before Christmas" but with him involved I've got my hopes up that it's going to be fantastic!!

Ok, there are some small co-incidences here! In film school I did my project on this Gorilla that finds a music box in the sand, and our group project consisted of a cube that landed on a planet of spheres and tried to take over!

So here we have a cube that lands on a planet with a monkey and much mayhem ensues!

Cube...monkey...gorilla...spheres...hmmmm....I should sue...except this short is WAY better than either of those projects that I did 10 years ago...

Point No Point

This past weekend I took Bonnie for her birthday to Point no Point. It's an amazing little hideaway about an hour past Victoria. We had a great view of the ocean, with the waves crashing into the shore, it was so relaxing I highly recommend it! We had a great time exploring the beaches around there and just basically hanging out and having fun.

Our plan was also to go whale watching, but because of the high winds on sunday they cancelled the trip, booo!! That's ok though, we got to see my family instead.

Ok, so at lunch we're walking around taking some pics cause it was nice out. Anyhow, we ran into some sketchy dude named "5 Shot" dunno why, it has something to do with his tattoos, anyhow he says. "Hey guys, you wanna take some real pictures, come check out the spraypaint job I did. So we were pretty stoked to see it! We followed him a couple of blocks and he took us to the most brightly colored alley I've seen in Vancouver. He said he did a lot of it, him and another guy, but I had my doubts. However you never know, if he did that shit, the boys got skills.

I get home from my kickboxing class, and I'm thinking, 'Hey! I'm bloody starving!' so decide I'm going to make myself a burger on the BBQ! I throw on two Calgary Stampede burgers cause I have this great idea that I'm making a double cheese double meat burger and it's going to be fantastic!! So I cook em up, and on the last flip before the BBQ sauce, one of them attemps an escape to freedom and jumps off the grill hits the deck, ROLLS across the deck off the balcony an into the gutter of the lady below me. All I could say as watached it fly into the gutter was, "You have to be fucking kidding me."

So to top it off, after eating my single pattie single cheese burger, I make some popcorn to forget my sorrows over the long lost pattie. You see I have this great popcorn maker, you twist the handle and it stirs the kernels so they don't burn. Anyhow, it all pops fine and dandy. and I'm all happy. I go to dump it in the bowl, and the bottom drops off the popcorn contraption and it spills into the sink over the counter and onto the floor, leaving me with a lot less popcorn that I was anticipating and a pain in the ass pickup session to do.

I think I'm going to sit in a little bubble for the rest of the week so as not to injure myself or anyone who comes in contact with me.

Ok, so a couple of days ago, I decide "Hey! I'm gonna paint my dresser black!" So after having some grub and a pint with Kev Gamble, I head out to Home Depot and pick me up a can of black paint. I say to the guy at the counter, "I need black!" so he says to me, "How black?" and I say back to him, "As black is it comes!" so he mixes me up this crazy deep black color. I mean when he opened that can to show me, it was actually sucking the color from the world around us. Anyhow, so I grab my can and head home to paint the shit out of my dresser. I placed the plastic and dropcloth around in my room so as not the muck up the carpet with my brush or roller and I start painting away. I'm so happy with the black as I'm painting commending myself on such a great job, I step back to take a good look at my masterpiece, my butt bumps into something, and I hear a loud THUMP! behind me. I think to myself, what did I have resting behind me that could have been so heavy, there was nothing there before. Then it hit me, the paint can of course! Turning around I see the can of abyssal black pouring onto the floor. Phew thank god for plastic! But then I look closer and it managed to find its way to the exact spot where there was no plastic to be found.

So now boys and girls I have a Blackhole in my carpet. If you want to travel to another galaxy the floor of my bedroom is the place to do it!

Home Renno!

Well, it's not huge home renno, but I'm re-doing my bedroom, ripping off crappy crown molding, patching the walls, new paint, baseboards, new dresser and night-stands but I'm also looking at hanging a picture on my wall as well. I took this pic the other day and was pretty happy with it. I've done a bit of color manipulation to give it more of an eerie and interesting look, what do you think, blow it up to be like 2 feet by 3 feet sorta thing with a nice boarder? The thing I like about it is there's so much detail, and when it's viewed larger you can really see it.

I had a small group of friends over the other day for a BBQ and we couldn't have picked a better day for it! The only time the sun came out all weekend and I popped open the lid of my BBQ and flopped on some of the best steaks I've had in my life! If you've never gone to Granville Island Market and picked up meat before. Go down there and get the Marinated Jerk Top Sirloin. It's a bit pricy, but you'll have a taste explosion. Once it hits your lips its so good!! Anyhow, hope youre easter weekend was fantastic, I'm back to work tomorrow...

Having easter on the brain and hearing a quote from a friend of mine: "Do you know who the ultimate zombie is? Jesus." It got me thinking, if Bruce Campbell and Jesus were to fight? Who would win?!

Now Jesus, he's a pretty tough mo-fo, plus he's got a lot of followers so he might be able to lay the smack down on Bruce. But then again Bruce has a shotgun, he's tough and has a lot of followers. So I think it'd be a tough match-up though I think in the end, even with all of Jesus' tricks and zombie stuff, nothing says the end of a fight like a shotgun does.

Sorry Jesus, but I think my vote goes to Bruce...

Ok, so some more news, the company that does our Strata managing quit the other day. We have two months to find a new management company! Wow, that timing was super convenient! Just before the shit hits the fan with our building they pull the plug and tell us "We're not helping you anymore." GREAT! Dear god, get me out of this stupid mess!

I've also gone to the bank to ask them to turn me down for a loan, which is good cause they did, but now I've got to send all the information to the Government in the hopes that they give me 70,000 interest free dollars to pay for this. But as it stands I have absolutely no equity in my home because it got re-assessed due to the fact that it's leaky, and now my place is worth LESS than when I first bought it, at least till it gets fixed.

I love the fact that no-one is claiming responsibility for any of this. The goverment is like, oops that sucks sorry guys here is some money but you have to pay it back. The realtors who sell you places like this should burn in hell, and should be held WAY more accountable than they are, especially to new homebuyers. And the contractors who built them in the first place have vanished into thin air, so there's me sitting here with huge pile of shit to deal with! I'm expected to know what the hell I'm doing when it's the first time I've ever bought anything? Give me a break!

Anyhow, that's my rant. Hope the government gives me some cash or I don't know what the hell I'm going to do...

By the way, if anyone involved in this scandal is reading this I have a message for you...FUCK YOU, I don't know how you sleep at night in your kingsized satin sheeted downtown penthouse leak free appartment, I hope you rot like the walls of my building...

So I'm at the doctors office today and after the doctor sees me, I'm on my way out and there sitting in the waiting room are a group of what look to be four Shaolin Monks. I couldn't help but do a double take to make sure one of them wasn't bending a spoon with his mind. What has our world come to that even the strong mind and body monks have to go to the doctors. Maybe my doctor is not really a doctor after all! Maybe she is the Oracle and we are living in a digital world created by machines who use our bodies as energy sources!! Maybe she wasn't filling out a request that I go to physiotherapy for my shoulder, maybe she was filling a perscription that said "Jhop, you are the one!" maybe I misread her handwriting!

I'm going to try and jump across to the other office building I think just to be sure.

Big White and Silverstar Trip!

I just returned from my Big White and Silverstar snowboarding trip and it was fantastic!

Day 1: Met Bonnies friend Carla whose parents have a chalet on the mountain at Big White. Didn't get there till 12:00 am cause we left Vancouver at 6:30 or so. The drive was amazing tho. The moon was out the roads were clear and we made great time. So day 1 was pretty much arrive, say hi and sleep.

Day 2: We got up and were on the hills by 9 am. It was a bit foggy but we didn't care! We were rode like crazy! Keeping up with Bonnie and her friend Carla proved to be a bit challenging considering those girls have been riding for years and loved riding through the trees, which is something my limited boarding abilities weren't used to. It was a good day all around. Found out we could ride right up to Carlas parents backdoor. That was a nice feature! After riding, hot tub then sleep.

Day 3: We got up and were on the hills by 9 am. Got better and hurling myself through the trees, got better at the jumps. Good times had all day. Afterwards , hot tub, sleep.

Day 4: We got up and were on the hills by 9 am. Ok this day will be remembered for the rest of my life. There was a lift on the far side of Big White, it's called Gem Lake and it was closed all of the previous day, and it snowed like crazy for the last half of that day and all night. So Carlas mom said, she would give us a ride over to that chair in the morning because there would be so much untouched snow. So off we went and I have to say, riding down a hill with a foot of untouched powder is pretty much the best experience I've ever had in all my life. It felt like I owned the mountain for that one run. The silence of the board cutting through what felt like icing. If I wasn't addicted to boarding before this, I am now. I don't know if I'll ever get to experience anything like that again, but I'm glad I did. After that I had my taste of the Super Pipe! I rode down Big Whites largest pipe, its walls are about three of me tall, that was a great experience too. It was icy on the lip and I had a bit of difficulty turning, but all in all it was a good time! After this run Bonnie and I said our goodbyes to Carla and her great family then made our way over to Vernon to say hello to my friend Graeme and hurl ourselved down Silverstar for the day. So after three days of snowboarding we show up to Graemes and go out for a few hours being that is was St Patties Day and all (and Graeme and I ruled the pooltable for 3 straight games!!). Oh by the way, don't mix 800 mg of Ibuprophen and beer, it makes you feel not so good.

Day 5: We got up and were on the hills by 9 am. It was a beautiful day there was a fresh coat of about 5 cm on top and the first few runs we cruised down were sweet. It was no-where near the day before but good times were had. We tested our abilities on all the great runs and left a bit early cause our legs were burning and we were getting a bit sloppy from the previous days and the snow was getting crunchy which is a recipe for injury. So we called it at 2:30 and went to Timmy Hos, hung out at Graemes all day and watched Crash (which is fantastic, not only was I physically wrecked, I was emotionally after that movie as well.)

Anyhow that was my trip, I just got back and now I gotta work tomorrow, it sucks coming back to reality sometimes.

World Of Warcraft...

Recently I started playing World of Warcraft again. I played it before and I didn't really like it that much. It sat in my computer and took up plenty of space on my hard-drive for a while. Then a month or so ago I loaded it up and made a different character and I've been hooked ever since.

Well today my level 22 Warrior picked up a new pair of pants from the 'auction house', where you can trade and sell items to other players. Well today I bought "Spiked Chain Leggings of the Bear" 165 Armor, +6 Strength +6 Stamina! I mean these badboys were gonna take me places!! Anyhow, I bought them put them on an as you can see below, they are apparently trasparent or invisible pants! Now I'm runnin around half naked in the World of Warcraft! I think they meant Spiked Chain Leggings of the Bare!! (So funny, cause it's a pun, and puns are funny!!)

Anyhow, if you play and see a halfnaked Nightelf running around...that's me...

The Submitted Designs

Here are the official snowboard submissions that I've completed for the snowboard art challenge. Not sure if I like the light blue one, but I guess we'll see what the flavor of the judges is, in the meantime I learned how to use Adobe Illustrator and I had a good time doing the designs.

Leaky Condo Entry #1

I've decided to log the process of my leaky condo on here giving updates as they come in so as to inform the rest of the world of my mistake of buying one.

You see, a couple years ago I bought a place for the first time, and was told by my realtor don't get it inspected it's just a waste of money. So I didn't (that was mistake #1) however that being said I talked to other owners who got their places looked at and the inspector said it was ok (inspectors are bunk). So anyhow I moved in and then a few months later I kept hearing rumblings of leaky this and water damage that. Then it was forgotten about till 8 months ago when the strata got the place looked at by a company that deems buildings leaky. It turns out that it is leaky for sure. Then I almost fell over at the cost of it, estimated at a mere 1.2 million dollars to fix. Unfortunately there's only 18 suites in the building, that's 70 thousand each.

Well tonight we're starting the ball rolling on getting it fixed. The suites are all voting on which construction estimate we're going with and after that, designs are drawn colors are picked and siding is sledgehammered off while you're sleeping at 7 am.

You see the place I lived at before this was a leaky condo and I was renting. I was going to move out when rumors that it was leaky emerged, but they lowered the rent by 30% which made my two bedroom, two bathroom place 700 bucks a month, and who could turn down that? So I stayed. I don't know if it was worth it though, I was robbed twice(once while I was sleeping) and there were workers taking out my bedroom windows while I was in bed. There's nothing like waking up to a grubby worker taking your window out, saying goodmorning while you're laying there wiping the sleep from your eyes. My favorite though was a large cement patio below my bedroom, they jackhammered the whole cement slab off. Every morning for about 4 months I was awoken by the sounds of jackhammering. I think they became addicted to jackhammering cause they jackhammered pretty much every slab of concrete around the building, and when the jackhammering ended there was months of the sledghammers driving into the wall.

Anyhow so I know what I'm in for, and I'll be posting here on how it all pans out. My place should be finished sometime the beginning of next year, and it should be an adventure getting there!

Wish me luck, and if you know where I can find 70 grand that would be helpful.

Mount Baker

Thought I'd post this pic I took at Mount Baker on the weekend. It turned out kinda nice. It's from the parking lot at the base of the ski hill, the weather was absolutely amazing there on Saturday, we had a great time. Nice snow, blue sky, no wind and some of the toughest snowboarding I've done yet thanks to Goosh. He tried to kill me, but I got my 2nd 'frontflip' out of the way. There's nothing like catching an edge and flying face first down a black diamond run in a cloud of powder(that happens to be under a chairlift)then somehow landing on your feet and carrying on like nothing happened.

A Story for Friday...

So this morning, I'm on my way to work. I'm thinking, today is a good day I like today. I get off the skytrain come up the long escalator at Granville head up the stairs towards the exit to Granville Street. I open the door and look back to courtiously hold it for the guy behind me, he says "Thanks man!" as he goes by and I smile, today is a good day.

Then I turn around to continue my happy journey to work and I knock over a 4 year old girl, face first into the gross grimy cement at the entrance to the Granville Skytrain station. She starts screaming, I just stand there and say "Oh my god, are you ok?!" Her mom who was a couple feet behind her comes running over, and I'm like crap! "I'm so sorry about that, I didn't see her!" The nice mom says it's ok it's not your fault. And all I could do was say I'm sorry and this little girl is screaming her head off. I look up from the scene I have just created and there are those stupid 24 newspaper handout people staring at me like I just punched her in the face. So I slink past them head down, grabbing a paper as I go by just to seem like I really am a nice guy, and don't often go around knocking little girls to the gross slimy cement at skytrain stations.

That all being said, as I see it, I probably scored that little girl a free icecream or lolipop from her mom to make her feel better. So really I think that little girl should be thanking me...right...right??

...I feel like a huge jerk...

Snowboard Art

As some of you know I've become addicted to this whole snowboarding buisness (I can't stop!), and recently I discovered that there is an art competition in April during the Telus World Ski & Snowboard Festival to create art to be displayed on Skateboards and Snowboards. The entry fee is $30 for unlimited entries. So I'm going for it and you should too!!

It's through a website called www.originalsnowboardart.com. You can purchase skins for the decks of your snowboards here and submit your designs and sell them. So I think I'm going to enter the world of snowboard art. Even if I don't win anything, it'll be a fun excercise!
